On November 11th 2019, the 3rd panel discussion in 2019 was held as part of the Talking Europe II 2019-2020 cycle in the hall of the Croatian Heritage Foundation. The initiator and leader of Talking Europe is doc. dr. sc. Caroline Hornstein Tomić, scientific advisor from the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences and President of the Board of the Znanje na djelu (Knowledge at Work) Foundation. The organizers of the panel discussion entitled “Remigration and Circular Migration as a Cohesion Strategy” were the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Zagreb, the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) and the Embassy of Ireland in Croatia. An introductory speech was given by Dr. Martin Russell of the UCD Clinton Institute in Dublin, who spoke about Ireland’s diaspora-related strategy. Panelists were Croatiana Orešković, Special Adviser for the Croatian Diaspora, Central State Office for Croats Abroad, Zagreb, Alida Vračić, Associate in the Europe’s Futures Program of the Institute of Humanities (IWM) and the ERSTE Foundation, Vienna, and Ph.D. Remus Gabriel Anghel, Romanian Institute for National Affairs Research, Cluj-Napoca. Dr. Caroline Hornstein Tomić, President of the Management Board, moderated this lively and controversial debate. Talking Europe is a successfully established format of public lectures and debates, aimed at encouraging public debate on current challenges and the future perspective of the European Union, to meet the recent Croatian presidency of the Council of the European Union.
